Our Story

Christ Church, A Baptist Community, is a new congregation in Rockwall, Texas. Our parent congregation is Wilshire Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas. Though Christ Church will not formally be a satellite campus, much DNA will be shared even as we develop our own unique identity. We are also partnered with the Baptist General Convention of Texas and the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship in supporting local and global missions efforts and theological education.

We began as a home group October 1st, 2006 gathering in our pastor's home for prayers, Bible study, Communion, good food and good conversation. These "living room" gatherings helped us form new friendships and grow in faith while laying the spiritual and theological foundation for the new church.

Pastor Andrew Daugherty

A graduate of Wake Forest University Divinity School and Belmont University, Pastor Andrew Daugherty is a native of Crossville, Tenn. He later joined the staff of the Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty in Washington, D.C., as assistant to the general counsel in work with religious liberty coalitions and legal research. In 2004, he moved to Dallas to accept a pastoral residency staff position at Wilshire Baptist Church, funded by a generous grant from the Lilly Endowment.

In the fall of 2006, Andrew became the founding pastor of Christ Church. His vocational interests include liturgy and preaching, contemplative prayer, writing, and exploring leadership development among traditional and emergent communities.

He is married to Rachael, a licensed social worker who is currently pursuing her passions as a mother and full-time photographer. Andrew and Rachael are the parents of Addison Cora. They have one pet, a red-haired golden retriever named Bella.

Andrew loves being married to Rachael, being Addison’s dad, cooking, coffee and conversation, playing Top Golf, Chicago Cubs baseball, independent films and documentaries, songwriting, and the agony and ecstasy of preaching. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in Gospel and Culture at Columbia Theological Seminary.
