Our Mission

Christ Church exists to be a spiritual community committed to loving God, growing faith, and serving others.

Our Vision

Our vision guides our thinking about what kind of church we believe Christ is calling us to be. At Christ Church, 3 core values express our vision of “why we do what we do.” We believe these values reflect the character of Jesus, and we want them to characterize our church as we fulfill our mission and ministries.

Worship

Worship is the basis of all we do as a church. Our corporate worship at Christ Church is intended to help us encounter God more fully and worship God wholeheartedly. The purpose of worship is to worship God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength (Luke 10:27). We believe worship should be designed to honor the Triune God that Christian tradition names Father, Son and Holy Spirit. At its best, “worship in spirit and in truth” (John 4:23) transforms our lives as we experience God’s Triune fullness. To experience God’s fullness we see in the life of Jesus, we seek to create a worship space that connects with the souls of the worshipers while designing worship opportunities that express the spiritual gifts and natural talents of people in our community. We seek to practice Christian worship that reflects the rich traditions of Christian faith across the centuries. Christ Church follows a creative yet traditional Christian worship format. We are committed to worship that creates meaning, inspiration and a sense of the sacred in our worship gatherings.

Elements include:
• Meaningful integration of Scripture
• Prayers
• Silence
• Creative Preaching
• Storytelling
• Inspiring Music
• Baptism and Communion
• Celebration of the Christian church calendar

Ministry

We seek to make a difference in God’s world both locally and globally. God’s love inspires us to reach out to our neighbors both at home and around the world. This happens not only through giving our money, but it happens as we give of our own personal time. (Matthew 22:37-40). Whether one is a businessperson, attorney, teacher, doctor, nurse, or simply a willing helper, we believe all people can be ministers and missionaries wherever they are. Together, we can make a difference in the lives and lifestyles of people in our community locally and in the global kingdom of God that has no borders. We seek to be a church that not only “does” missions. We seek to be a church “of missionaries” (Matthew 28:19-20). We believe all men and women have unique gifts for all areas of ministry. Whether single, married, young, old, male or female, we seek to be a church that helps all people discover their natural talents and spiritual gifts in order to enjoy making a difference in the church and the world. When it comes to ministry, we are limited only by our imaginations.

Making a difference may include:
• Tutoring elementary school children
• Building Habitat for Humanity Houses
• Serving meals to the hungry
• Writing a letter to someone who is lonely
• Reaching out to people with addictions
• Partnering to affect economies and standards of living around the world
• Digging wells to provide clean water in remote areas
• Providing medicines for people who need them.
• When it comes to ministry, we are only limited by our imaginations

Community

We believe it takes a church to raise a Christian. We believe the church can be a safe space to be honest about life and the spiritual journey in times of struggle and times of joy. Lasting life change happens best where real friendships can be developed in a caring community. At Christ Church, we want to provide many ways to help people be connected with God and with others. Spiritual practices are the ways in which we deepen our faith.

They include but are not limited to:
• Regular corporate and personal worship
• Biblical study
• Daily prayer
• Silence
• Journaling
• Sharing the good news of God’s peace and love
• Opening our homes for studies and fellowship

Other opportunities may include:
• Game nights
• Progressive dinners
• Movie nights
• Camping trips
• Book clubs

In these ways, church becomes more than services and programs. Church becomes a community of friends where people can be free to be themselves, be loved, and deepen their relationships with God and each other. We believe church should be more than just a community of “familiar strangers.” We believe the church can be a place of genuine friendship (John 15:12-15).
